Upon completion of the paperwork and at your appointment time you will be taken back to an examination room where your Chiropractor will greet you. The chiropractor will then review your health history form, go through a more thorough case history, and identify your reasons for seeking care. At Active Balance, we want you to be involved in your health and healing journey. This is where you can let your chiropractor know your ideal health goals.
Next, the Chiropractor will complete a thorough physical examination, postural check and detailed examination of your problem areas. The chiropractor will also check your musculo-skeletal system as a whole as sometimes problems in one area can cause tension, pain and poor function in other areas of the body. This exam may include orthopedic tests, neurological tests, muscle strength testing, sensory tests, or a 3D foot scan.
Report of Findings
Your Chiropractor will use all the test results in combination with your health history to present to you a picture of how your body is functioning. If the chiropractor thinks they can help you they will lay out a plan that will allow you to achieve your health goals. If the chiropractor feels the required treatment is outside their scope or they are unable to help you, they will direct you to the appropriate person or service that they believe will best serve you.
The chiropractor may refer you for further imaging (x-ray/MRI scan) if clinically necessary and will let you know whether chiropractic can help you.
In most cases, the Chiropractor is able to start your treatment in the same visit. In some cases however (such as an acute injury or extreme inflammation), the chiropractor may not be able to start treatment the same day. Should this be the case, the chiropractor will talk through your injuries and healing process with you and schedule a treatment for a later date. Please inform us if you do need immediate treatment when you are booking your appointment with us. We do understand that some patients require immediate relief from their pain, and in this case we will offer relief care on the first visit, if it is safe to do so.
In many cases, the Chiropractor will prescribe exercises that you can do at home to speed up the healing process and help your body function better. The first visit will take approximately 45-60 minutes. Please note, for all treatments you should wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement.
At Active Balance, we care for the “whole you”, and we believe feedback is a gift. You are always encouraged to ask questions along the way and voice any comments or concerns you may have!!
