Once in the treatment room there will be a review of health history and a short conversation about the present health condition you want treated. The RMT will also answer any other questions or concerns.
Then an assessment will follow, this gives the RMT information on how to proceed with an appropriate treatment plan. This part of the treatment is necessary for every treatment, due to the fact that our bodies are constantly changing. Although the more the RMT gets to know you and your body and the more frequent you visit, the faster the assessment will go.
There are two types of Massage treatment:
Relaxation Massage: This is offered in a 60 min time slot only. It consists of a full body treatment with the intention of calming down the sympathetic nervous system. Scalp, hands and feet are usually included in this because they are sensitive areas and they have a dramatic effect on the nervous system. It will have less assessment and generally won’t be as deep or specific as a therapeutic massage.
Therapeutic Massage: At Active Balance, we offer 60min, 75min and 90min treatments. These sessions will include assessment, specific treatment, and home-care.This kind of treatment is generally not a full body treatment and is focused on the area of complaint. There may be continuous dialogue throughout, checking in on pain scale and how your body is adapting to the treatment. If home care is indicated the hands-on portion of the treatment will end 5-10 minutes early so that there is time to explain the home care appropriately.
At Active Balance, we care for the “whole you”, and we believe feedback is a gift. You are always encouraged to ask questions along the way and voice any comments or concerns you may have!
